Measles vaccines kill more people than measles, CDC data proves
(NaturalNews) Parents concerned about their vaccinated children
potentially contracting measles from unvaccinated children may want to
consider the fact that the bigger health threat is technically the
vaccine, not the disease itself. Comparative data provided by the U.S.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Vaccine Adverse
Event Reporting System (VAERS) reveal that nobody has died from
measles in more than 10 years, while at least 108 deaths reported in
VAERS during the same time frame have been linked to measles vaccines.
Many of our older readers probably remember a time when measles wasn't viewed with the obscene level of paranoid hysterics being witnessed today. Like chickenpox, measles was a common childhood infection that, after running its typically mild course, imparted lifelong immunity in those who contracted it. The risk of serious complications or death from measles has always been overwhelmingly minimal, in other words, with previous generations viewing it as something of a rite of passage.
Fast forward to today and all rationality and common sense has gone out the window on this issue. The media is reporting a few isolated cases of measles as if it were the black plague, calling for those who don't vaccinate their children to be ostracized from their communities or even jailed for "putting others at unnecessary risk." But where are the facts in all this unsubstantiated mania, which unfairly tags the unvaccinated as dangerous lepers?
Once again, the media is discarding factual reporting in favor of mindless sensationalism, attributing an alleged measles resurgence -- even this claim is specious -- to the unvaccinated. Whether or not this claim is actually true pales in importance compared to the fact that measles really isn't much of a threat in the first place. The measles vaccine, on the other hand, is a whole different story.
"There have been no measles deaths reported in the U.S. since 2003," the Associate Press reported based off statements made by Dr. Anne Schuchat, director of the CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.
Meanwhile, VAERS, which captures only a very small percentage of the actual number of injuries and deaths associated with measles vaccines, reports at least 108 deaths associated with measles vaccines since 2003. Of these, a shocking 96 deaths were reported in conjunction with MMR, which is now the preferred vaccine for measles immunization.
Measles deaths were virtually nonexistent prior to introduction of vaccine, which is now triggering outbreaks

Moderne Women, Marriage and Unhappiness
While he is an atheist, Stefan, does approach a lot of topics with common sense. This video explains some of the hard truth of life, for men and women but specially for women. There are a few mature points that a touch on so don't be scandalized at the frankness.

The Phases Of A Geeker Gate Updated – Plus Countermeasures
This document has been updated here.
First we must thank Jeff from World Class Bullshitters for coming up with the initial idea for someone to map this out, when Ethan Van Sciver mentioned that all of the “Gates” had a similar pattern.
In another video, Sir Ethan mentioned that he hoped Jeremy from TheQuartering would join him in an online stream about this, so hopefully we’ll get his insight into this at some point.
Since publishing my initial blog post which outlined The Phases of a Geeker Gate, I’ve received feedback and criticism from Ethan Van Sciver, Veeh, and of course, World Class Bullshitters, among others. So I’m going to update these Phases taking into account that feedback and criticism, and adding a few additional thoughts of my own.
But, this will probably always be a work in progress as SJW tactics shift and change, so I still invite and encourage suggestions, insight, criticism, debate, and feedback of all kinds from others.
Again, I want to stress, that my primary interest is in film and television. So others that are more deeply involved in comics, novelizations, video games, board games, role playing games, card games, etc., may have additional insight.
In this outline, IP stands for Intellectual Property, and is meant to be a general term to encompass many different types of franchises.
THE PHASES OF A GEEKER GATE
1. SJW CRITICISM – A popular IP is criticized by SJWs for being racist, sexist, misogynist, homophobic, and a smattering of other things. This will often manifest in media articles and academic papers which push this false narrative. This phase can take place over the course of years, or even decades.
2. IP IS ABOUT TO UNDERGO REBOOT – or reimagining, or remake, or whatever term is fashionable at the time. The rebooted production will tout “firsts,” first female, first person of color, first LGBTQ+, etc., even if the IP has already had them before. They do this to contrast their new version as far more virtuous and progressive than the previous version, which they spent years or decades labeling as racist, sexist, misogynist, homophobic, etc.
3. THE BARNACLING – SJWs barnacle themselves to the IP within the production, and start transforming the IP from its original form. This strategy is sometimes referred to as entryism. Production staff make claims that long time customers will stay with the IP no matter what the changes are. SJWs outside of the production barnacle themselves to the customer base, and start lecturing long time customers. Shill media SJWs write articles pontificating about how diversity is good business and touting diversity “firsts,” without regard to the fact that the IP may have already been diverse for years or decades.
4. CUSTOMER CRITICISM – Long time customers of the IP voice legitimate criticism of the new direction.

Feeling good --Dr. Burns-- Depression and Cognitive Therapy
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Why do we sometimes fall into black holes of depression, anxiety and self-doubt? And can we change the way we feel?
Dr. Burns graduated magna cum laude from Amherst College, received his M.D. from Stanford University School of Medicine and completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He has served as Acting Chief of Psychiatry at the Presbyterian / University of Pennsylvania Medical Center (1988) and Visiting Scholar at the Harvard Medical School (1998), and is certified by the National Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Dr. Burns is currently Adjunct Clinical Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Stanford University School of Medicine, where he is involved in research and teaching. He has received numerous awards, including the A. E. Bennett Award for his research on brain chemistry, the Distinguished Contribution to Psychology through the Media Award, and the Outstanding Contributions Award from the National Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapists. He has been named Teacher of the Year three times from the class of graduating residents at Stanford University School of Medicine, and feels especially proud of this award.
In addition to his academic research, Dr. Burns has written a number of popular books on mood and relationship problems. His best-selling book,Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy, has sold over 4 million copies in the United States, and many more worldwide. Feeling Good is the book most frequently “prescribed” for depressed patients by psychiatrists and psychologists in the United States and Canada. Surveys indicate that American mental health professionals rate Feeling Good as the #1 book on depression, out of a list of 1,000 self-help books.
In 1995, Dr. Burns and his family returned to California from Philadelphia. When he is not crunching statistics for his research, he can be found teaching his famous Tuesday evening psychotherapy training group for Stanford students and community clinicians, or giving workshops for mental health professionals throughout the United States and Canada.
To learn more about Dr. Burns, you can check out his Wikipedia page or read a recent article about Dr. Burns by Robert Strauss in the Stanford Magazine.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

How to Learn: Pretty Much Anything
Some good practical tips on why it is so hard to change and learn new stuff.
A trick I use to stop procrastinating is to tell myself that I would do that thing for as little time possible, like studying or exercising for 30 seconds. As soon as I started I would realize that it wasn't so painful and keep doing it

Pride is the most common sin committed by women, the report found,
but ranks only at number five for men, who are most prone to lust,
followed by gluttony.
The results of survey, which was based on an analysis of confessional data carried out by 95-year-old Jesuit priest and scholar Roberto Busa, have been echoed by the Vatican.
Monsignor Wojciech Giertych, personal theologian to Pope Benedict XVI and the papal household, told the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano: "Men and women sin in different ways. When you look at vices from the point of view of the difficulties they create you find that men experiment in a different way from women."
After lust and gluttony, the third most common sin by men is sloth followed by anger, pride and envy with avarice at the bottom.
For women, envy was the second most common sin after pride, followed by anger, while sloth was the least likely.

confession to a priest necessary, and 10 per cent even said that it
"impeded their personal dialogue with God", according to The Times.
Last year the Vatican added seven new sins to the existing list: genetic modification; human experimentations: polluting the environment; social injustice; causing poverty; "financial gluttony"; and taking or selling drugs.

Biggest Congressional Scandal-- never reported
Just who is Jackson Cosko, the mastermind behind what prosecutors have called ‘the largest data breach in Senate history? What are the implications of the Imran Awan scandal and the extraordinary cover-up that followed? And how do these scandals relate to the recent arrest of billionaire Jeffrey Epstein? This is American Thought Leaders, and
I’m Jan Jekielek. Today we sit down with Luke Rosiak, an investigative reporter with a penchant for uncovering congressional scandals, and author of the book Obstruction of Justice: How the Deep State Risked National Security to Protect the Democrats. We explore the scandals Luke has been exposing: that of Jackson Cosko, who gained notoriety by doxxing Republican Senators during the Kavanaugh hearings, the near-unbelievable Imran Awan scandal where 44 house democrats’ servers were deeply compromised (and how this was then covered up.

Women: Save your marriage. In five minutes.
This is going to sound like a cheesy testimonial, but stay with me.
Ladies, if you have been struggling in your relationship with your husband (and sooo many women do), I know a way that you can begin to change -- even save -- your marriage. In five minutes.
Trust me on this. I've seen it happen first hand.
Caveat: If what I'm about to say doesn't apply to you, then it doesn't apply to you. The women to whom it applies will know it. I knew it. Countless other women have known it and will know it.
If your husband is physically abusive, or if he degrades and is cruel to you as a rule, then this post is not applicable. Most husbands, however, are not physically abusive nor willfully cruel. Most husbands are generally decent guys. If you are married to a generally decent (if imperfect!) man, then what I am about to recommend will likely improve your marriage, even to the point of a complete renewal. And the results and changes will begin in less than a day. Perhaps even in five minutes. And no, I'm not kidding. You will save a lot on therapy bills and get a markedly better outcome.
Some background: Over the past few months, I have been shocked and dismayed by the number of women -- faithful Catholic women -- who have contacted me to tell me of their unhappy marriages. Some (not all) of these women were hinting that they even wanted out. I was shaken by the frequency of these conversations as well as the seeming lack of sin and guilt in the husbands -- at least nothing that should be the basis for divorce, a broken family, and devastated children. That these sentiments were and are coming from devout Catholic women who do not believe in divorce and who understand marriage as a sacrament is deeply troubling.
And yet at one time, I might have felt similarly.

Fatherhood Prudence and Leadership
[editor: I hoped to have this up for Father's Day. But it took longer than I thought.]
There are three styles of fathering:
1.) Authoritarian fathering uses lots of commands, yelling and threats but little reasoning--draconian in nature.
2.) Permissive fathering is high on affection but low on authority. Subconsciously children can feel un-loved because they feel not worth the effort to set boundaries. Children raised by permissive parents do not learn age-appropriate behaviors and the consequences for performance or non-performance.
3.) Leadership fathering combines confidence with reasoning, love, and encouragement. Yelling is avoided.
A good understanding of the Catholic Faith must be instilled in the children. The Theological Virtues of faith, hope, and love, like perfume, should leave their scent in all activities.
But Piety must be virtuous --meaning balanced. The family is not for monks, soldiers, or a tool for self-fulfillment. It is a formation program for good Catholics. Teach your children short ejaculatory prayers that they should say throughout the day. Long prayers can be too much of a drudgery for young children.
Ejaculatory prayers of aspirations were esteemed among the ancient monks of St. Mark in Egypt; because, being short, they did not weary the mind.
There are three styles of fathering:
1.Authoritarian 2. Permissive
3. Leadership
1.) Authoritarian fathering uses lots of commands, yelling and threats but little reasoning--draconian in nature.
"Fathers, provoke not your children to indignation, lest they be discouraged." (Colossians 3:21) “My sons, in my long experience very often I had to be convinced of this great truth. It is easier to become angry than to restrain oneself, and to threaten a boy than to persuade him." (St. John Bosco; Office of Readings, Jan. 31.)
2.) Permissive fathering is high on affection but low on authority. Subconsciously children can feel un-loved because they feel not worth the effort to set boundaries. Children raised by permissive parents do not learn age-appropriate behaviors and the consequences for performance or non-performance.
"What will become of boys when from earliest youth they are without teachers?... to exercise this child’s soul in virtue, to that no man any longer pays heed." (St. John Chrysostum VAINGLORY and THE RIGHT WAY FOR PARENTS TO BRING UP THEIR CHILDREN #18)
3.) Leadership fathering combines confidence with reasoning, love, and encouragement. Yelling is avoided.
"Let us be ashamed to assume an attitude of superiority. Let us not rule over them except for the purpose of serving them better. We wish to focus on leadership fathering, which is what Christ wishes of us. Leadership is the "mean"; the virtue of prudence, between the Authoritarian and the Permissive approach.
This was the method that Jesus used with the apostles. He put up with their ignorance and roughness and even their infidelity." (St. John Bosco; Office of Readings, Jan. 31.)

"Wherefore they [the monks of St. Mark] think it best for the prayers to be short and offered up very frequently " (Cassian: INSTITUTES OF THE COENOBIA. ch.10)The goal of the family, as with each individual is:
THE PRESENCE OF GOD-- prayer and virtue
The quest for virtue must begin with prayer. Prayer is the most necessary virtue to acquire.
Why should we pray?
If God knows our needs before even we know them, why do we need to pray?
"Your Father knows that you have need of all these things." (Matthew 6:32)
Since God was rejected by Adam in the Garden. To a certain extent, Adam shut God out of relationship with humanity; he chose it. The devil thought he had now won.
But there are other avenues God could still use, so that His relationship with Man would not die, chief among these is prayer.
"For we pray not that we may change the Divine disposition, but that we may impetrate that which God has disposed to be fulfilled by our prayers in other words "that by asking, men may deserve to receive what Almighty God from eternity has disposed to give," as [St. Gregory the Great ] says (Dial. i, 8) "
(Summa Theologica, II-ii: Question 83--art. 2)
Our personal life on earth, because of the FALL, can be thought of as a door that is constantly closing on certain graces, and all God "needs" is for us to constantly open it; we open the door for Him to act, and receive the graces He wished from all eternity to give us. This is a condition caused by the FALL. We live in a fallen world, with a fallen nature. God warned Adam of this condition.
"Behold, I stand at the door and am knocking; if any one hear my voice and open the door, I will come in unto him and sup with him, and he with me." (Revelation 3:20)Before the FALL God conversed with Man, as we speak to a friend. Genesis 2 indicates that God spoke to Adam about his needs.
"Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.” (Genesis 2:18)And in Genesis 3:8-9, implies that everyday God met Adam and Eve in the cool of the day, but on the day they FELL they hide.
What is prayer?
Prayer is the raising up of the mind and heart to God. There are 4 major forms of prayer:
Worship-- The highest is the Divine Liturgy --the Mass. We must acknowledge God is greater than ourselves, or any created thing.
"Heaven is full, and the earth as well is full of your magnificent glory, O Lord of Hosts. Fill too this sacrifice with Your power and communion, for we offer You this living sacrifice and unbloody offering . . ."Petition-- Inviting God into one's life and actions-- wisdom, protection, healing, needs...etc...
(St. Serapion of Thmuis, "The Anaphora of Serapion" 4; A.D. 339)
"Let us therefore, brethren beloved, pray as God our Teacher has taught us...And since we have Him as an Advocate with the Father for our sins, let us, when as sinners we petition on behalf of our sins, put forward the words of our Advocate. For since He says, that:
"whatsoever we shall ask of the Father in His name, He will give us," John 16:23 "
(St. Cyprian of Carthage, Treatise 4: "On the Lord's Prayer," #3, --death 258 AD)

How to never have a serious poison ivy rash again
Urushiol oil in poison sumac, poison oak, and poison ivy may produce a severe skin rash. Timely urushiol removal can prevent poison ivy skin reaction. The key is to understand how poison ivy works. http://www.extremedeerhabitat.com/hab... Jim Brauker, Ph.D., spent 25 years as a biomedical scientist studying skin inflammation. He has been retired for 8 years, during which he has spent much time doing small property deer habitat work. Because he has high poison ivy sensitivity, he has tried many poison ivy treatments, poison ivy soaps, poison ivy creams, and other poison ivy products. Because he had such a strong poison ivy allergy, he either needed to give up habitat work or figure out how to optimize urushiol prevention. Poison ivy prevention was key, but poison ivy removal, actually urushiol removal was key to preventing poison ivy rash. This video shows the remarkable results of his investigation into how to prevent poison ivy reactions. The solution is so simple it is almost seems dumb. But if you follow his prescription, you will probably never suffer a severe urushiol induced skin rash (contact dermatitis) again. Don't take chances. You may think you have urushiol immunity or poison ivy immunity but you may just not have poison ivy sensitivity yet. For more deer habitat information and to read a free chapter of his upcoming book go to: http://www.extremedeerhabitat.com The book will include an entire chapter on poison ivy with solid advice on prevention and treatment, and many other chapters about how to improve hour deer habitat, deer hunting, and how to shape your deer property with a chainsaw.

Using the Andy Cutler Protocol to Address Mercury Poisoning
Mercury is poisonous. However, mercury’s effects are very often misunderstood because the havoc it causes can masquerade under a variety of different names, including autism, chronic fatigue and multiple sclerosis. Mercury can affect practically every system in the body, producing a staggering array of symptoms ranging from anxiety and depression to full-blown psychosis; from asthma and allergies to autoimmune disorders; from scrambled hormones to neurological disease.1 There are literally hundreds of other symptoms of mercury poisoning.
Different people experience different mercury toxicity symptoms, depending on their individual biochemistry, but many people carry around a mercury burden that is more than their body can manage. Although symptoms may come and go, mercury-related illness typically is progressive. A person might start off with anxiety and depression, treat the anxiety and feel better for a while, and then go on to develop hypothyroidism, allergies and asthma. Other common heavy metals like lead, arsenic and antimony have similar properties and display similar patterns of symptom variation from person to person.
SOURCES OF MERCURY EXPOSURE
Mercury’s use has been so widespread that people can get exposed to it without even knowing an exposure has happened. For example, if mercury gets splashed around somewhere and does not get cleaned up properly, it can keep on poisoning the surrounding area for decades. An unwitting person may never know that they inhaled a toxic dose of mercury vapor.
The biggest source of mercury exposure for the general public is amalgam fillings, which are 50 percent mercury by weight. Amalgam fillings leach mercury vapor into the body, where it then accumulates. Another route of exposure is through flu shots and some other vaccines, which are loaded with highly toxic ethylmercury in the preservative thimerosal. However, even people who have never had a thimerosal-containing vaccine or an amalgam filling in their life can still be mercury-toxic. This is because they might have been exposed to mercury long ago in a school chemistry lab or on the job, or they may move into a house previously inhabited by a kid who liked to smash fluorescent light tubes in the basement. An exposure that happened decades ago could be causing a whole slew of current symptoms that a doctor is unlikely to be able to explain. Plenty of people have been chronically ill their whole lives, never having figured out what was really the matter.

American Betrayal: The Secret Assault on Our Nation’s Character
May 16, 2013 - Diana West talked about her book, American Betrayal: The Secret Assault on Our Nation’s Character, in which she argues that the U.S. has been “marching toward socialism” since the 1940s, abandoning its core ideals in the process. She spoke with Ariel Cohen, the Heritage Foundation’s Senior Research Fellow for Russian and Eurasian Studies.
As the Democrats become more openly Marxist, this book is important to see it wasn't an over night process. Both parties Democrat and Republican were complicit, though the Dems seem to be more so.

Tonic for Health
This looked interesting.
It is basically organic apples, beets and carrots. They say strain the drink after bending, but I see no need for that. The fiber is good for you.
I would also add the carrot greens, and the beet greens, because they actually have more vitamins than the roots. Also keep the apple seeds too in the apples too, good nutrients-- amygdalin fights cancer.
After you buy the veggies, I would cut them all at once and put them in a a freezer bag and freeze them, (they will keep for a long time) maybe, don't cut-up the apples though, but you could experiment, and try it. If you cut apples, spray them with lemon juice, to keep them from oxidizing and turning brown as they freeze.

Stoicism, the Logos, Christianity, and the Bible
And the end and the beginning were always there
Before the beginning and after the end.
And all is always now. Words strain,
Crack and sometimes break, under the burden,
Under the tension, slip, slide, perish,
Decay with imprecision, will not stay in place,
Will not stay still. Shrieking voices
Scolding, mocking, or merely chattering,
Always assail them. The Word in the desert
Is most attacked by voices of temptation,
The crying shadow in the funeral dance,
The loud lament of the disconsolate chimera
—T.S. Eliot, Burnt Norton
Zeno and the Founding of Stoicism
Zeno of Cittium founded the Stoic School in 322B.C. The name came from the lecture hall: the Stoa poikile (the outdoor porch). Zeno took much from both Plato and Aristotle; turned their metaphysical speculations into religious dogma/presuppositions. Stoicism, therefore, did not serve as mere speculation for these Hellenistic Greeks; it revealed the path to a virtuous life. While Zeno possessed great skill, most scholars consider him a second-rate thinker compared to Plato or Aristotle. His student and successor, Cleanthes of Chrysippus, wrote down much of what Zeno had taught; he developed this thought further in 705 “books”, all believed to be well argued, according to Father Copleston, but poorly written.[1]
Three stages of the Stoa
- Early Stoa (Zeno, Cleanthes, and Chrysippus of Soli)
- Middle Stoa (Virgil, Cicero (though Cicero called himself an Eclectic and a New Academician), and Seneca)
- Late Stoa (Epictetus and Marcus Aurelius—for whom the Logos Incarnate was the Roman Empire)
The Miracle of Lanciano
Recently,
one of our parish priests mentioned the Eucharistic miracle of Lanciano
in his sermon and also mentioned some scientific studies that had been
performed. Could you please provide a little more information concerning
this miracle
The miracle of Lanciano is the first, and many believe the greatest, Eucharistic Miracle of the Catholic Church. Keep in mind that strictly speaking a miracle is an extraordinary event produced directly by God or by His will and command through an agent, such as a saint. The miracle occurs in a religious context and is a clear sign of supernatural, divine intervention. Most importantly, the miracle arouses within the spectator or recipient a greater conviction of faith in God.
With this in mind, we now turn to the miracle in question which occurred in the 700s in the town of Lanciano, then known as Anxanum, an ancient Roman city, located southeast of Rome. There the monks of St. Basil had established a monastery under the patronage of St. Longinus, traditionally believed to be the centurion at the crucifixion who proclaimed, Truly, this was the Son of God (Mt 27:54) and pierced the side of our Lord with his lance (Jn 19:34).
One day, a certain monk was offering the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Although we do not know his identity, an ancient document described him as ...versed in the sciences of the world but ignorant in that of God. Apparently, he had been plagued by doubts about transubstantiation: he agonized over whether the bread and wine changed substantially into the Body and Blood of our Lord at the words of consecration, and whether our Lord was truly present in the Holy Eucharist.

A Cure for Glaucoma?
Glaucoma damages the optic nerve in the eye and is one of the leading
cause of blindness in the US. Millions of people are affected by the
disease; and though it can be treated, it’s incurable. The risk of
developing glaucoma may soon be lessened, a new study suggests, thanks
to one of the B vitamins.
Glaucoma begins gradually, and there are no warning signs, so vision changes may not occur until the disease is advanced. It can occur at any age, but it is most often seen in older people. Some people lose vision completely, while others lose it only partially. Any vision lost is lost forever.
With this in mind, the scientists gave mice bred to be susceptible to glaucoma oral doses of vitamin B3 to see if it would help to prevent the development of the disease. Young mice receiving extra B3 had a significantly lowered risk of developing the disease later in life, and it prevented further damage in mice who were already showing early signs of glaucoma.
Among mice given B3 as a preventive measure, 93 percent did not develop optic nerve damage, the distinguishing characteristic of glaucoma.

Home Remedy Improves Your Vision
I found this on youtube. Not sure if it is legitimate. As with all home remedies consult and research. This is just for information. I don't know how a Russian got Aloe Vera back in the turn of the century, so this may be a hoax. The instructions are not clear either. hmmm...use caution on this one.

What is a rocket mass heater?
A rocket mass heater (also termed rocket stove mass heater) is a space heating system developed from the rocket stove, a type of efficient wood-burning stove, and the masonry heater.
Its fundamental characteristics are an insulated combustion chamber
where fuel (generally wood) is burned with high efficiency at extremely
high temperatures, and a large thermal mass in contact with the exhaust
gases which absorbs most of the generated heat before the gases are
released to the atmosphere. According to various reports a rocket mass heater can reduce fuel consumption by 80 - 90% compared to "conventional" stoves.

Niacin (Vitamin B3) help for Depression and Anxiety
Niacin is vitamin B-3, one of the water soluble B-complex vitamins. One
of niacin's unique properties is its ability to help you naturally
relax and get to sleep more rapidly at night. And it is well established
that niacin helps reduce harmful cholesterol levels in the bloodstream.
Abram Hoffer, M.D., Ph.D. explains: "Niacin is one of the best
substances for elevating high density lipoprotein cholesterol (the "good
cholesterol) and so decreases the ratio of the total cholesterol over
high density cholesterol."
Another niacin feature is its ability to greatly reduce anxiety and depression. Yet another feature of niacin is that it dilates blood vessels and creates a sensation of warmth, called a "niacin flush." This is often accompanied with a blushing of the skin. It is this "flush" or sensation of heat that indicates a temporary saturation of niacin, and that is our topic here.
When you flush, you can literally see and feel that you've taken enough niacin. The idea is to initially take just enough niacin to have a slight flush. This means a pinkness about the cheeks, ears, neck, forearms and perhaps elsewhere. A slight niacin flush should end in about ten minutes or so. If you take too much niacin, the flush may be more pronounced and longer lasting. If you flush beet red for half an hour and feel weird, well, you took too much. And large doses of niacin on an empty stomach is certain to cause profound flushing.
