Earthships: self-sustaining homes for a post-apocalyptic land?

On the desert mesa of New Mexico, miles from the nearest town of Taos (pop. 5,700), Star-Wars-like shelters rise from the earth, half-buried and covered in adobe. Called “Earthships” - brainchild of architect Mike Reynolds in the 1970s- they’re nearly completely self-sufficient homes: no electrical grid, no water lines, no sewer.

The Greater World Earthship Community, about 70 passive solar homes built from earth and trash on 633 acres, had a rough start; they were shut down as an illegal subdivision in 1997 and it took them 7 years to come to compliance.

Though today, the county fully cooperates with Reynolds and his Earthship Biotecture operation to turn trash (tires, cans, glass bottles) into shelters and has even given them 2 acres to experiment with housing in anyway they like (they also provide their recycling). Sixteen years ago, Tom Duke had just finished over a decade on the pro volleyball circuit when he bought a bit of land here with his wife and began to build a tiny Earthship the size of a storage shed.

When their first son was born they built their dream house on the property, a two bedroom that, like other Earthships, collects rainwater, uses its water four times (the plants in the indoor greenhouse filter the greywater) and even processes its own sewage. In this video, Tom takes us on a tour of his home, his original “Earthship survival pod”, the “nest” ($50,000 studio apartment), the “Simple Survival Earthship” (aimed mainly at the developing world), a custom home designed to feed a family of four (including a tilapia pond in the greenhouse) and the “BMW of Earthships”, the “Global" (aimed at the typical American family).

They Don’t ‘Need’ A Man But Many Still ‘Want’ A Man

​Women are making more money than ever, are gaining more and more economic freedom and many are at the top levels of our society in terms of money, power and prestige. I’m all for this and have zero issue with career women or ladies that make it happen to keep the US Economy rolling. It’s not 1955 where she has little options beyond the secretarial pool and it totally dependent on finding a man – and again, this is a good thing.

However, economics meets biology and there are still a lot of ladies out there that want a REAL man to come home to – just as you want a kind, flexible and giving woman to come home to.

It’s easy to take those snippets of women that get the headlines looking for a sperm donor so they don’t have to end up with a guy but the reason they make the “what’s trending” part of your news feed is because I believe they’re the exception rather than the rule – there are still a lot of great women out there that are smart, motivated, kind, flexible, giving and yes, they want you – as long as you’re a strong gentleman that is strong enough to say no once in a while but secure enough to be sensitive too (at the right times).

Today’s lady wants a mixture of Cro-Magnon man that also has a softer, intelligent side – just like it’s been since the dawn of time!

You Don’t Have To Be Anything But Yourself – The Best Version Of Yourself

Today’s woman is more smart and motivated than ever so the lady you really want to end up with (the one I described above) is not going to fall for lines or BS. Oh sure, I’m not naive – I know there are the “players” out there that have the Handsome Harry looks and prowl the clubs looking for their next conquest but I’M NOT TALKING ABOUT ONE NIGHT STANDS HERE – I’m talking about building a real relationship (by the way, I’m not making a moral judgment on the one night stand guys – I’m just stating that the focus of what I teach is on long-term relationships).

If you’re really going to interest the woman that you should end up with then be yourself – don’t be a line machine – but also be the BEST version of yourself. If “yourself” is to not dress well, have bad teeth, not groom yourself, be uptight, or any other bad qualities, then you need to clean those up.

Before you get all over me saying that “I don’t want a superficial woman” then slow your roll right there – NEWS FLASH – were all superficial with our initial attraction.

She’ll never get to know the real you if she’s turned off by your 45 degree angled front tooth – just like you wouldn’t like her if you were attracted to athletic women and she happened to be morbidly obese – we like what we like and women are no different.

So, be you – don’t try to be the next guy – but be the best you that you can be and remember to always TALK to her intelligently and REALLY LISTEN. Dating single women in the 2010’s is a marathon and not a sprint – you want to get to know her over time because you might be spending 40 years with her tough guy!

The Church has been Catholic from the 1st century. The English word Catholic is a transliteration of the Greek katholikos which is a compound word from “kata” which means according to, and “holos” which means whole. http://www.catholic.com/tracts/what-catholic-means
So one THEN can ask, where does kata holos appear in scripture and particularly kata holos ekklesia ?  [We see it in the following verse.]

Ignatius was Bishop of Antioch from ~69 a.d. to ~107 a.d. He was ordained by the apostles, and was a direct disciple of St John. It was in Antioch where the disciples were first called Christian Acts 11:26 . And Ignatius in his writings uses both "Christian" and "Catholic Church" in his writings.

The same Church Pope Francis is over today, 267th successor to St Peter.  [This office is passed down through Apostolic Succession.
Also see Irenaeus  "Against Heresies"  [Bk 3, Chapter 3, v 1]
Jesus started one Church. The Catholic Church. He gave all His promises to His Church. Jesus does NOT approve of division John 17:20-23 , and since the HS only teaches what comes from Jesus John 16:12-15 no one can say the HS inspired them to divide from the Catholic Church especially when considering the scandal of all the division we see today outside the Church. As you can see from the links above from Paul, which ultimately came from Jesus, division is condemned as are those who do it and remain in it. For 2000 years division from the Catholic Church has been condemned. There is no expiration date to that warning.

“This could end up being the free speech issue of our time.”
Those are the words of Breitbart Editor in Chief Alex Marlow, whose news organization has published articles exposing alleged political bias and censorship by search giant Google and its video-sharing website YouTube.
“The Silicon Valley elites are saying, ‘We don’t care what you want to see – we know what you should see,” Marlow told the New York Times. “We know better.”
As WND has reported, several high-profile conservatives are accusing tech and social media giants Twitter, Google and YouTube of discrimination in a series of lawsuits against the organizations. WND has also reported on alleged censorship of conservative content by social-media giant Facebook.
The issue of censorship of conservative viewpoints by the websites was even the subject of a hugely popular discussion at the Conservative Political Action Conference last month titled “Suppression of Conservative Views on Social Media: A First Amendment Issue.”
James Damore, a former Google engineer who was fired after writing a memo accusing the tech giant of “alienating conservatives” at its Bay Area headquarters, told the Times: “There are political activists in all of these companies that want to actively push a liberal agenda. Why does it matter? Because these companies are so ubiquitous and powerful that they are controlling all the means of mass communication.”
Some CPAC panelists described efforts by the websites to spike their videos or remove their advertising.
The problem is finally getting some public exposure, and it’s likely to be addressed in an upcoming documentary film by best-selling author Peter Schweizer tentatively titled “The Creepy Line.” The film is expected to examine the censorial and elitist powers at Facebook and Google. The documentary’s title is a reference to a 2010 speech made by then-Google CEO Eric Schmidt, who explained that the search giant’s policy on privacy was “to get right up to the creepy line and not cross it.”

As WND reported, Damore has filed a class-action lawsuit along with another former Google engineer, David Gudeman, for wrongful termination.
The suit, filed in January in Santa Clara Superior Court in California, charges Google discriminated against them and other employees for their political views and for being white males.
“Damore, Gudeman, and other class members were ostracized, belittled, and punished for their heterodox political views, and for the added sin of their birth circumstances of being Caucasians and/or males,” the lawsuit alleges. “This is the essence of discrimination – Google formed opinions about and then treated Plaintiffs not based on their individual merits, but rather on their membership in groups with assumed characteristics.”

Game of Trolls: The Sinister Face of Facebook

Oppressive governments around the world have realized that social media have become powerful alternative voices to official propaganda, so governments have not stopped looking for ways to combat political and social dissent on those media. Governments persecute dissenting voices either by openly denying access to the Internet and social media or by harassing critics, especially during elections or turbulent events.

We have seen such trends in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, in countries such as Russia, China, Turkey, and many others. Such governments quickly craft laws to justify their crackdown on Internet communication, wrapping them under notions of “public safety,” “terrorism,” “extremism,” “traditional values,” “treason,” “indecency,” etc.

However, lately oppressive governments have discovered a more subtle, but equally effective, way to censor and harass political opponents by using Facebook’s Community Standards as a weapon against dissent.

When Facebook and Twitter were founded a decade ago, they heralded a new era in which the voices of ordinary citizens could be heard alongside — or even above — those of establishment insiders.

From the Arab Spring and Occupy Wall Street to demonstrations against Russia’s Vladimir Putin, activists have used social media to attract followers and broadcast their messages free from official oversight. But increasingly, authoritarian regimes are deploying social media to disseminate official propaganda and crack down on dissent. What began as a tool of freedom is being turned into a weapon of repression.

In Facebook’s case, Pandora’s box was opened by its Community Standards, the company’s rules for determining what is permissible.

 Facebook says it is intolerant of “nudity, hate speech, self-harm, dangerous organisations, bullying and harassment, sexual violence and exploitation, criminal activity, violence and graphic content.”

And its  “hate speech,” for example, covers content that directly attacks people based on their “race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, sex, gender or gender identity, or serious disabilities or diseases.”

If the company finds violators of its standards, it generally blocks the content.

And those Community Standards are being exploited to attack prominent voices of those who herald positive change. How it works:
 Repressive governments hire armies of trolls — either employed by the governments directly or by seemingly independent agencies — who go after government critics.

The trolls single out Facebook accounts and, if they find any key words or phrases that Facebook might consider a “violation” of Community Standards, complain to Facebook about violations.

If Facebook agrees with the complainant, one’s Facebook profile can simply disappear.

Problem Platform
The core of the problem is that Facebook is unreachable to request a formal audit or to obtain information about who complained about certain posts or profiles.

 A Facebook profile can disappear without any possibility of users defending themselves. Some people have  tried to fight the Facebook system by contacting media or NGOs dealing with free speech and human rights. Some looked for political help from the European Parliament or the European Commission, or writing directly to the very few official contacts Facebook has posted, but the bottom line is that such efforts often prove futile.

The company’s rules of conduct have turned into a powerful tool of censorship.

It wasn’t supposed to be this way. Back in 2012, as Facebook prepared for its initial public offering, Mark Zuckerberg wrote a letter to investors touting the company’s role in helping ordinary citizens hold their leaders accountable. “By giving people the power to share, we are starting to see people make their voices heard on a different scale from what has historically been possible,” he wrote.

Social media has undeniably helped activist movements draw attention to their causes. But regimes around the world have figured out how to use social media to drown out dissent.
According to Freedom House’s “Freedom of the Net 2017” report, fake news and trolls have led to a decline in global Internet freedom. In their yearly Freedom of the Net report, Freedom House studied 65 countries worldwide between June 2016 and May 2017 and found that Internet freedom has declined for the seventh consecutive year. In the case of Turkey, up to 6,000 trolls (real people) have been recruited by the ruling Justice and Development Party to infiltrate online discussions in order to spread propaganda and to identify anyone criticizing the government.

My[Ann Blake-Tracy] Response: THIS IS NOT A GUN ISSUE AND IT IS NOT A MENTAL HEALTH ISSUE! IT IS A DRUG ISSUE – PRESCRIPTION DRUG ISSUE!!! I have worked these cases as an expert for three decades and the common denominator in them all is the use of an antidepressant – drugs that work very similarly to PCP!

PCP & LSD produce hallucinations by mimicking serotonin. And how do antidepressants work? They are designed to gradually increase serotonin so you get a gradual emerging of hallucinations or psychosis. In that way it appears that the patient is going crazy rather than the drug producing the effect thereby distancing the cause and effect and avoiding personal injury lawsuits.

Creative? It sure was! Thankfully if we can get them into court we have been able to show the evidence clearly with even their own experts testifying that what we should expect from the way these drugs act upon the brain is impulsive murder and suicide! The science is clear as a bell! But no one is hearing that because there is too much money being made on these drugs.

This young shooter had been drugged with these drugs for years and most likely got an increase in dose in November when his mother died. This was the same scenario with Eric Harris at Columbine. His dose of antidepressant was increased just two months before the shooting even though when first given one of these drugs (Zoloft) within 3 weeks Eric was reporting that he was having homicidal ideation (a listed side effect which is an obsession with killing). So they gave him a different SSRI antidepressant! Why doctors seem to think that they are going to achieve a different outcome if they spell the name of a drug differently even though they work exactly the same is beyond me!

NOTE: For those of you who follow my work you will notice all of the obvious medication side effects and keep in mind that  63% of autistic children are prescribed antidepressants

He is currently on suicide watch. He heard voices telling him what to do in the shooting (hallucinating). He was adopted along with his brother. He was depressed and in therapy after his mother’s sudden death from the flu in November…
